Orkrist - The ancient war spirit - pagan folk metal

This Slovak band was founded in June 2000 by Crom, after he left the bands MEAN GEIMHRIDH and SINE NOMINE (do not exist today). The main reason to ground an own-band was the ambition to realize his own musical ideas and visions, that were not the same as he played in the two named bands.
The first members, who took up his quarrel, were the SINE… members: guitarist Khayo, the drummerMartin and female singer Lenka

Aes Dana - mer de glace et d'ombre - progressive folk metal

Born from the meeting of Vincent Villuis, former member of goa chill band Asura, and Sunbeam (aka Mahiane) who spins English progressive vinyls, Aes Dana stands as a coherent fusion of both styles.
They bring out deep sounds rooted in the psychedelic tradition, in a fluid down tempo morning trance. Both musicians tend to create evocative sound textures, opening as a travelling over their analogical dreams. Short tales made of samples and waves, energised by tribal beats. Soundtrack for the early party letting time for the moon and the tempo to set, or for afters to slow down the nocturnal excesses and celebrate the return of the Sun. Aes dana's music is to be enjoyed between the veils.

Crimfall -- Wildfire Season - Folk Metal

BAND MEMBERS:

Jakke Viitala - Guitar, bass, programming
Mikko Häkkinen - Vocals
Helena Haaparanta - Vocals

Crimfall is a young soul; it came to being on a wildfire season, Autumn 2007 as one man’s vision. Jakke composed a demo of three songs just for himself but he soon noticed that the material was unique, diverse and strong to stand on its own feet in front of wider audiences. What was still needed was some talent to fulfill the forceful yet melancholic music he had composed, someone to bring the stories of songs to life with voice of both beauty and power. In the end Jakke decided to bring two people to finish his line-up, voices with contrast and variance, as Mikko and Helena joined the band. So was the first recording of Crimfall born, “Burning Winds”.

Vintersorg - Norrland - Folk Metal

Vintersorg (Swedish pronunciation: [ˈvɪntɛr ˈsɔrj]; "Winter Sorrow" in English) is a Swedish band from Skellefteå, formed in 1994 under the name Vargatron (Wolfthrone in English). Musically, Vintersorg has covered a wide number of heavy metal genres; while the band is mostly rooted in extreme metal styles, particularly black metal and Viking/folk metal, it has also expanded into progressive metal and avant-garde metal. Lyrically, the band deals with topics on fantasy, mythology, nature, the cosmos, and metaphysics. Vintersorg means "Winter Sorrow," but the name was taken from the The Legend of the Ice People series by Margit Sandemo, where the character Vintersorg is the son of a great pagan leader.
